Happy New Year!

As the year comes to a close, we couldn't be happier or more blessed to be here in Western North Carolina, working with some of the most wonderful clients, families, and vendors anywhere on earth! (And in one of the most beautiful places on earth, too, of course...)

We wanted to take a few moments to thank our 2015 brides - you have been amazing to work with and we have so enjoyed being able to share in the joyful planning of your weddings. We wish all of you a Happy New Year - cheers to new beginnings, new journeys, and the clients we can't wait to work with  in 2016!

A Great New Venue: Vintage Barn Events

We were so pleased this fall to work with a new venue in Western North Carolina - Vintage Barn Events in Whittier!

This gorgeously restored barn provides a dance floor, reception area, and wedding party preparation rooms, while the ceremony sites and surrounding scenery are simply stunning. Gorgeous chandeliers perfectly complement the rustic elegance of the rough-hewn floors and the original barn wood ceilings.

You won't regret making a detour to check this place out - only minutes from Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Resort and the wonderful small mountain towns of Sylva and Bryson City, this is a venue that is sure to please your guests and provide a beautiful backdrop for your big day!

Kara + Juan

Kara and Juan were such a pleasure to work with - and their big day turned out perfectly!

The bride's family hosted close friends and family members on their land near Bryson City. Kara's father expressed his love by building a beautiful ceremony spot with a view over the mountains, benches built from wood on the property, and a gorgeous stone walkway and outdoor fire to greet the guests on their way to the ceremony.

Dinner was on the covered porch of the family home, with some additions from Mountain Party Tents and Events - farm tables and dark mahogany chairs bedecked with gorgeous fall flowers and custom hung laurel branch lighting from Ray's Florist in Sylva. (Pashminas draped over the chairs awaited the female guests!)

A local artist, Heather Kindy of Visual Awakening Photography, designed the invitations, menus, and chalkboards, and took stunning photographs throughout the day. Ray's Florist of Sylva created some of the most incredible fall flower arrangements we've ever seen, especially these gorgeous bouquets!

The dinner menu from our friends at Lulu's in Sylva was one of the most sumptuous we've seen, offering eggplant, filet, and a variety of small plates and treats for the guests.

Our friends at Raquel's Creative Cakes really outdid themselves, too - these naked cakes and desserts perfectly captured the refined but playful spirit of Kara and Juan's design.

We couldn't be happier for Kara and Juan and we know their strong bond and partnership will help them build a long and beautiful future together!

Tia + Matt

Tia and Matt were married at a venue we were thrilled to discover - Vintage Barn Events in Whittier, North Carolina. This stunning property lies in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and features an elegantly remodeled barn. These high school sweethearts had a special family connection to this beautiful places which created a truly memorable experience.

Chip Litherland of Eleven Weddings captured stunning photographs of these newlyweds at this great new space.

The guests loved the rustic but elegant theme we created with Tia and Matt, which featured soft pinks, ivory, and hints of purples against a cream and gold background. The simple ceremony took place in front of the beautiful fall landscape on their gorgeous green lawn. Inside the barn, Tia added additional lighting to complement the existing chandeliers and Ray's Florist in Sylva provided fabric drapes in addition to the gorgeous mercury and glass vase and wooden box arrangements for the reception tables.

Saffron Fine Foods served a delicious plated meal after passed appetizers during the cocktail hour. A local artist, Heather Kindy of Visual Awakening Photography & Design, provided gorgeous menus, table numbers, and other visual details. Dancing followed dinner with great sound from A Bride's DJ.

Tia and Matt were whisked away with a shimmery exit of metallic streamers. It was the perfect end to a gorgeous fall weekend in Western North Carolina, and we loved being a part of such a wonderful couple's big day!

Danilo + Stephanie

Danilo and Stephanie hosted a small, exclusive fall wedding at one of our favorite places, Castle Ladyhawke, between Cullowhee and Cashiers. They loved the feel of this stone castle surrounded by mountainous views overlooking Cedar Cliff Lake, and created a design that would feature the mountains in both the ceremony and the reception.

The couple was framed during the ceremony by a custom bamboo arbor twined with flowers and fabric, built to order by Ray's Florist in Sylva and installed on the grassy lawn outside the castle.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous reception that featured dinner in the Great Hall looking out over the mountains. Danilo and Stephanie sat at a sweetheart table framed by the guest tables, which were decorated with gorgeous gold-rimmed vintage plates and beaded gold napkins Stephanie found.

Additional gold accents complemented the deep eggplant purple, hints of pink, sage green eucalyptus, and rose gold selected in the design theme and transformed by flowers from Ray's Florist in Sylva.

Lulu's in Sylva provided an incredible meal for the guests, including soup, salad, and a selection of mouthwatering dinner entrees, followed by a dessert bar with some of the tastiest offerings we've seen. The first dance took place on the balcony and guests joined the happy couple in dancing and drinks after the dinner.

It was such a pleasure to work with Danilo and Stephanie on this gorgeous fall day and we wish them the best of luck in the future!

Becca + Steven

Becca and Steven held a beautiful fall wedding at Sawyer Family Farm in Glenville, North Carolina. The rain couldn't keep the festive spirit of the guests away, and despite the drizzle, the bride and groom were married in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony just as they wanted under the farm's arbor overlooking the lake and the mountains.

Even the guests were cheerful under their umbrellas, and the couple provided blankets to help keep everyone warm in this cool September weather. Jen Burrell of Jen P. Burrell Photography captured some great umbrella photos, too!

After the ceremony, guests were made warm and cozy in the reception hall, where Becca's designs in golds, whites, and creams was on display under the specialty lighting she selected. White hydrangeas, roses, carnations, and dozens of other gorgeous arrangements from Stargazers Floral Design greeted guests as they enjoyed a meal from Reeves Catering in Greenville.

Dinner was followed by a real treat - a four-tiered ice cream cake from The Hop in Asheville! The guests enjoyed dancing the night away - and seeing the couple off in style during a wedding brunch the next day at Pebble Creek

We are so happy for Becca and Steven and wish them joy in their lives together!

Erica + Jim

Erica and Jim were married in April at one of WNC's most stunning and elegant venues: Lonesome Valley, in Cashiers, North Carolina. They were a joy to work with throughout the planning process and together we created a simple, elegant design theme that focused on lighting, soft pastel florals and flowing greenery. Enjoy stunning photographs from Nick Breedlove of Nick Breedlove Photography who captured some amazing moments during their special day.

Jim built a hand-crafted chuppah for the ceremony and it was brought to life with flowers from Ray's Florist in Sylva - Erica loved seeing it after arriving from getting her hair and make-up done by Katie Lovett from Visage Salon.  Asheville Marriages performed a wonderful ceremony that blended elements of a traditional Jewish ceremony with the couple's own selections.

After the sweet ceremony, guests enjoyed specialty cocktails and treats from the nationally-recognized Lonesome Valley chefs under cafe lights strung between whiskey barrels. An incredible candlelit dinner followed around a wood-burning fire, creating a warm and welcoming environment for toasts from family and friends. Artista Cakes provided the perfect sweet treat to move the guests to the dance floor.

A long evening of dancing and music, provided at the cocktail hour and reception by A Bride's DJ, featured this sweet moment during a traditional Jewish chair dance, captured by Nick Breedlove of Nick Breedlove Photography.

The evening was capped off with handmade metallic streamers passed out to the guests, who whisked Erica and Jim away in a stunning display with the hundreds of lights reflecting from these gorgeous props.

We loved working with this sweet and genuine couple and we join their family and friends in wishing them a long and happy life together!
