Planning parties and events, and building relationships personally, professionally and in my community, has been a longtime passion of mine. I love bringing people together and planning all the details for their special occasion, whether it be for a wedding, reunion, birthday, corporate appreciation, or non-profit gala. The memories and connections that are made at each and every event are invaluable.
The first ten years of my professional career were focused heavily in client and relationship management in the private and non-profit industries in Atlanta. Since my move to Western North Carolina, I have been fortunate to lead the planning process for multiple community events as the Director of our Main Street program in Sylva, and to plan countless private parties, non-profit events, showers and weddings. Having planned my own wedding in the mountains, I have a great love for the unique, yet, unforgettable experience that friends and families have when they arrive in the beauty of Western North Carolina and the Great Smoky Mountains.
These experiences and opportunities have allowed me to develop strong connections with local businesses, vendors, crafters, and venues, which have contributed to the creation of my own event planning business. I love being able to make a real impact in people’s lives and in my community. I work hard to build partnerships with individuals and businesses to boost the WNC economy and bring each of my clients quality services and providers to ensure that every element of their event is first class.
I am the wife of a very supportive and loving husband and the proud mother of twin boys and our golden retriever, Flambeau. I have a special place in my heart for college football, all kinds of music, great food, and escape vacations to the beach. I believe that organization, creativity and being able to resolve the curveballs life throws our way are the keys to success, both personally and professionally. There is no challenge I cannot overcome – I am committed 150% to life and to my clients. I’m always looking forward to the fun, new, exciting opportunities I am blessed to experience.
Emily Edmonds, Event Specialist
Growing up in Western North Carolina, I have long felt a connection with the mountains and the beautiful places within it. That sense of connection has remained important to me, as I’ve continued to work towards improving the lives of people in the communities in which I grew up. Even as I traveled from Asheville to Alaska for school and work, I knew I would bring my experiences home with me – everything from native plant botany to project management, and from running a farm-to-table restaurant to grant writing for nonprofits and towns.
I have always enjoyed a challenge in my professional career, whether it was multitasking management of a variety of clients, learning a new skill, or partnering with nonprofits, public institutions and private businesses to overcome obstacles and create success. My goal, in all of those challenges, is working to bring economic development and stronger communities to the WNC region.
Most of my professional experiences are detail-oriented, from creating efficient systems and smooth logistics to organizing smooth operations in special projects, programs, and events. Over the years, I have found that the key to success is keeping the big picture in mind when planning and carrying out each specific detail.
I’m happy to be back in my hometown, where my husband and I just purchased our first home in downtown Sylva. We spend a lot of time enjoying small-town life with our daughter, working in the garden, watching football on Sundays, and focusing on the small moments of happiness that we don’t want to take for granted.
Working with Julie allows me to feel like I’m giving back to the community of partners that we’ve built over the years, make new friends by developing relationships with each client that comes our way, and best of all, share the hidden riches of this region that I’ve been so lucky to call home.
